Dear Parents,

Happy Thursday! Here we are again. Once again I feel like I just did this. Today I feel like a chicken with my head cut off. I have had a ton of things to get down today and my evening is very busy tonight. Thank goodness for a day off BUT I need to be in the school to do all the things I need to do. I have been taking one thing at a time. It is all good.

Language Arts

We started a new story today. The story is Prince Charming Misplaces His Bride. It is an okay story. I hope the kids like it. We took a spelling pretest today and they are defining the 10 vocabulary words that go along with the story. In grammar we are going to start talking about pronouns. We will focus on subject and object pronouns. The spelling list is again about /r/ controlled vowels.

We finished up an informational writing project at the beginning of this week. They all did a very nice job. They had to choose an animal and then pick three facts about where they live, what they eat and what they look like. They learned how to properly write a paper.

Math

We are finishing up working on Partial Product of double-digit multiplication. We will start reviewing next week for a test. When we are done we will do a couple lessons on Perimeter and Area. After that we move on to division.

Social Studies

We finished up the first chapter on the Southeast and we have taken a map test. Today we started the new chapter. This chapter is a little bit longer than the others, it has 4 lessons in it. These lessons are all just skimming the surface of a very big topic. One of them being the Civil War and what caused it. We will also be adding capitals to our map test and the next one we take will be on states and capitals.

**Enrollment

Our enrollment is a little different this year. You have from January 25 - 31 to get signed up. We do have waiting lists for some classes so be sure to enroll so you ensure your child's spot for the 26-27 school year. It is important to be sure you meet the deadline.

 Candy Grams

There is a form for another fundraiser for our Outdoor Classroom. You do not have to do anything but fill out the note and put it and your money in an envelope. The 8th graders will take care of everything and make sure your child gets the delivery on the 13th.

Friday January 23rd

There will be no school tomorrow due to extreme cold warning. Stay inside and stay warm. Read those Book Report books.
