Dear Parents,
Happy Thursday before Christmas! I feel like today is Friday and I am exhausted! I hope all of you are ready for Christmas. I have not wrapped a thing. I need to wrap the things I need for my Christmas on Saturday. Sunday I hope to spend the day wrapping my gifts for under my tree. I am usually more on the ball and wrap a little each night but I have been super busy. I am also trying to keep up on my schoolwork so I can truly enjoy the break.
Language Arts
We finished up the story Catch Me If You Can today. I am so happy we are not in the middle of a story heading into break. When they return we will start Module 3 story 3. So we will begin with a spelling test and vocabulary words.
Math
We have spent the last two days coloring pictures using a coordinate grid. The picture they came finished with today is hanging in the hall for all to see. The ones they are working on are just for them. It is not homework.
Social Studies Today we talked about Hurricanes and actually read a the story for in our Language Arts book on Hurricanes. They were to complete 4 vocabulary words for the next lesson as homework. I think most of them completed it. We will start that lesson when we return.
Friday! December 20th Ugly or Festive Sweater Day
Tomorrow is a fun day. In the morning we are going to try to make some ornaments I saw on Facebook. We will see how that goes. We are using plastic cups, they decorate them, then we melt them down in the oven, let them cook, punch a hole in them and attach yarn. Seems pretty easy but we know how that goes.
After that I plan on showing a movie. I am not sure what I am going to show them yet. You can't find movies that are school appropriate that they haven't all ready seen. I will find something whether they have seen it or not.
At 11:50 they will pick up their advent Angels and head to lunch. Don't forget tomorrow is a sack lunch day, milk is provided! After they eat we will sing carols in the gym from 12:30 - 1:00. Families and friends are invited to join us.
After that we will come back to the room and have our Christmas Party. We have a snack and drink being provided by our Homeroom Moms. We will play board games. The kids are welcome to bring their favorite board games to school, but keep in mind not all of them may get played. My family likes to play games and snack together so that's what I have us doing. So if your child is not at school due to illness there will be no homework on Friday. Just play a game with them if they feel like it and it will be the same.
I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It is hard to believe we are at this point where I say see ya next year. pretty much half the year is gone. January will be slow, unless we have snow days like we did last year. February is also slow. But once Spring Break hits is goes quickly again. For a teacher it starts before that, looking at the big picture and where I am and where we need to be. Seems crazy to me to be at that point. I hope everyone has a very safe and relaxing break. See ya in 2025.
God Bless,
Mrs. Sickels
