Dear Parents,

Happy Thursday Happy Late Start!! The snow finally arrived and looks like it is here with a vengeance and wants to keep coming. I love one good snowstorm a year at least. Late Starts give us such a short morning together. We are going over a study guide and decorating Valentine's Bags for our party tomorrow.

Language Arts

This week is really messing with this subject. We are just beginning the 2nd story of the week. They worked on vocabulary packets. Tomorrow we will check those packets and that is all we will have time for. Tuesday we will read the story together for the first time. I pray Tuesday is a better week for this subject. If I follow the planner exactly the next spelling post test will be Tuesday, February 25th. Remember this could change, I could decide to do more in a day then planned or we could have another snow day.

Math

We finished Topic 4 this week. I have a couple who need to finish the test today and then they will correct them tomorrow. I will be teaching them the standard algorithm of multiplication next week. We will not test over it but we will do a couple homework papers to be sure they are getting the idea. After that we will move on to division and Topic 5

Social Studies

We corrected a study guide today and will take the test tomorrow. Then we are moving onto a different region. The Midwest Region. YAY! They are ready to talk about the region they live in. We have two chapters to cover. We are on the 3rd region of the United States. I will pick up the pace and move a little quicker through the region so I ensure we get to the last two regions.

Guest Speaker

I hope you were able to get online last night and listen to Ben Tracy. He was super interesting to listen to about his own life and technology. He will be speaking to 3-5 students Friday at 9:30. The program will last an hour. I hope this kids really listen to what he has to say. Some of it is so super important.

Valentine Party

We will have our Valentine Party Friday afternoon starting at 2:00. We will pass out Valentine's and enjoy treats from our homeroom moms. I do not allow the kids to eat any treats that the get in their Valentine Bag. I save that for you to decide.

Monday

Monday is President's Day and we are honoring it with No School. The teacher's will be here but the kids can stay home and enjoy!

Today seems like such a short day. We are here an hour then head to lunch. Our afternoon to me is short because they have their special. I feel like everyone came back ready to go to work today. Maybe we all needed a day of rest inside. We will see what more the weather brings this weekend and next week. Happy Valentine's Day to all of you.
