Dear Parents,
Happy Thursday! Wow, this week has seemed to fast yet it has been long too. I think time flies from blog to blog. Maybe because I feel like I have other things I need to be doing. So, more snow today. Sounds like Emergency Management thinks once it starts snowing and blowing the roads will blow back in quickly. I always wanted to get a lot of snow, but now maybe I am rethinking that thought. The kids seem to be struggling getting back into a regular routine of school. Some seem tired each day, and some are not doing well getting their work done. We need to get back into the groove we had going before Christmas break. I know it can be a struggle but I hope we are getting back to normal bedtimes. I know that is key. We may be in for a long Winter.
Language Arts
We actually finally got the story read today. We are reading a story about The Beatles. They learned their names, how they got their name, that they are called the Fab Four and about Beatlemania. I have played all the songs mentioned in the story for them. I like their music but not a huge fan that I know lots of facts and information about them. If you can share what you know about The Beatles with your child. Maybe they will have something to share with the class. Tomorrow we will be back working on some grammar, decoding, spelling and suffixes. They will have homework on this subject tomorrow. Some of them have homework today because they did not do their homework yesterday on this subject. I told them repeatedly yesterday that it had to be done. Some have not taken care of their books very well and have lost some of the glossary. They have to make time before school or after or during recess to get it done or it is a late slip. They need to take better care of their books.
Math
We have been working on a review this week. They are working on problems in class in their books. I usually don't allow them to work the problems at home because I want to be the ones to help them, but for those who have not finished it will be homework for them. We will check all the problems tomorrow in class. If we finish checking it the test will be Monday. If not we will finish on Monday and test on Tuesday.
Social Studies
We are finishing up some reading in lesson 3 this week. Next week we will begin working on a study guide to get ready for a test. We are reading about the animals that you can find in the Southeast Region. This will end our first chapter on the Southeast.
Spirit Day
Tomorrow is a spirit day! Pay $1.00 to wear sweatpants! Perfect week to wear them! Dress warm tomorrow is a cold one.
Prayer Service
We will be holding a prayer service in the gym tomorrow for the Perry Community. We will be saying the rosary and singing a song. Feel free to join us if you want. It will start around 2:20ish.
Well, looks like the snow is here. The cold is too. The temperature is dropping. I hope to see everyone tomorrow! I don't have much planned for the weekend except Saturday I am going to the Bookstore because an author will be signing books. I have read one of her books and really enjoyed it. I hope to read more. Maybe I will see some of you there. I plan to take my gift cards I got for Christmas!
God Bless,
Mrs. Sickels
